Well it basically comes down to a personal decision as to just how scarey you want your yard to be. You may need to insert a little common sense here and think about your neighborhood for a minute. If you have a majority of little tykes running around you may want to take it easy with the severed heads and blood! However if you have the older ones coming around well game on! In my book anything is fair game, and if I can scare a teenager out of their wits my Halloween was a success. :)Also don't think for a minute that you have to spray your house down with blood and become very graphic either. Think back to some of the greatest horror movies that scared you. Remember Jaws, Psycho, neither one of these was ultra graphic. However they managed to scare the pants off of just about anyone who watched them. So take that as a lesson early on that you really don't have to go hog wild with decorations. As you will learn it is all about the presentation.
While we have been talking about how to scare kids and people to death, you also have another option. Why don't you try to make them laugh instead? Halloween can be a great time to bring out the dark humor or just plain and simple slapstick. We will look into a few ways to do that and keep everyone happy.
